Amber Fain-Leslie, Ph.D.
I am a licensed psychologist and health service provider in Missouri. I am currently in private practice and provide therapy to adult individuals and to couples of all ages, sexual orientations, cultural backgrounds, and ethnicities. I endeavor to help individuals and couples achieve their full potential and cope effectively with life's challenges (see my Practice Philosophy).
I have been practicing therapy since 1995. My experiences include working with individuals with a wide variety of mental health issues, such as adjusting to stressful life changes, coping with depression and anxiety, resolving relationship problems, and managing severe mental illnesses and personality disorders. I have five years experience co-leading Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) groups for treatment of borderline personality disorder, and I continue to provide individual instruction in DBT skills. I provide couples therapy, and I have completed Level 1 and Level 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, as well as additional Gottman training in the treatment of affairs, trauma, and addiction in relationships.
I was raised in southwest Missouri and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) in Springfield, Missouri. I obtained a master of arts and a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. I completed my internship and postdoctoral experiences at Burrell Behavioral Health in Springfield, Missouri. I have been in solo private practice since 2007.
